The sense of community, that you'd know practically everyone on the street after 5PM. The lack of commerce and therefore the lack of temptation. The sense that we were in something together.
The danger (I was almost raped once). Sleeping in my coat (no heat).
Landlords. And I couldn't afford to buy.
