Over the past few years, Paul Tschinkel has been working on a new series called “SoHo Stories,” featuring tales of the early years of artists’ SoHo as told by artists, dealers, and friends. Inspired by Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, a film that depicts the Parisian artistic world of the early 1920’s in Montmartre, Tschinkel’s tales from the 1970’s and 80’s recount a similar time of great creative excitement and innovation in the small area of downtown Manhattan that became the legendary SoHo.
