Prince Street between Thompson and Sullivan, one door away from Raoul’s.
Earliest experience of SoHo was probably in the late 70’s early 80’s. A wine bar on West Broadway between Prince and Spring. My intro to SoHo.
Raoul’s. Everything about Raoul’s. The Art. Eating at the bar many nights a week. Maitre’d- Rob Jones – "These Boots Are Made For Waliking" dressed up in the white boots, coming down the spiral staircase and strutting across the bar! ;Meeting Sting – eating caviar and drinking Champgne with him and talking about author A.N. Roquelaire (aka Anne Rice) and Digital Equipment Corp as he used their computers in his music ?.
Bought a coop in Chelsea. Wanted one in SoHo but couldn’t afford it.
just going out to buy a cup of coffee in those days was an amazing experience.
