Grand Street between Wooster and Greene
Kid!
I lived there more in the 80s, but I loved the community. I remember playing in each other's lofts and feeling very safe. Also, I remember lots of art on the streets and hearing jazz musicians practice. I also learned to roller skate in my loft, which was cool.
The lack of stores. I remember walking to Houston Street when I wanted to rent videos.
I moved out of my parents after college and lived in the East Village an Brooklyn. I moved back a few times when I went back to school etc. My parents finally sold their loft in 2003 and moved to Brooklyn, and then, more recently to the Berkshires. The character of the neighborhood has changed so much that it is just a shell of what it once was.
I remember going to lots of art gallery opening as a kid. Plus it seemed that movies were constantly being shot everywhere.
