When did you live/work/visit in SoHo?
in the early 70’s, I visited my high school art teachers who lived in Soho.
Where did you live/work/visit in SoHo?
There were so few landmarks at the time. We followed a trail of clues, tossed pennies at windows to have the keys thrown down.
What was your occupation when you lived/worked in SoHo?
I was just in high school.
If you’re a SoHo old-timer, what do you miss most about SoHo in the early days?
I miss the adventure, wandering, looking for AIR signs. So few people, signs of life. The ancient, forlorn architecture.
What do you miss least about SoHo in the early days?
A feeling I’ve had many times in life..a feeling that I didn’t belong there. That I was too late, too young, not cool enough.
What is your most vivid SoHo memory?
A snowy day after Thanksgiving having turkey soup with a friend at the OG Dining Room.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We had seen a performance on some small stage of Eric Satie portrayed by an actor in period dress with one spot light, telling the stories of Satie’s notes, his experiences with landlords, his rejection, while a woman played his beautiful music.
