In 1974, David Mancuso moved to 99 Prince Street, where the Mercer Hotel stands now. Mancuso is the founder of the legendary “house” party known as “The Loft,” which has been referred to as the proto-discotheque, the original rave, where the expression, “I’m on the list” was probably first uttered.
