Arthur Cohen

1971 - 1990
500 Broadway
I had a factory making leather clothing at 500 Broadway.I was paying $500 /month for 5000sf.My landlord was the notorious Herbert Moskowitz
I miss the gritty funkiness of the early days. There was only Fanellis and the Broome St. bar.I ate lunch at Food every day
The boiler in the loft would always break down on the coldest day of the year.
I closed my business in 1990. It was the beginning of the end for Soho.
I had an armed robbery when closing my business. The guy put a silver pistol in my ear and tied up myself and my wife on the floor. This is hard to forget.
I miss the early gallery parties and the waitresses in the Broome St. bar
